Today I met with delegates from several international universities including National University of Singapore,UBC Sauder School of Business, ENAE Business School Spain, EADA Business School Barcelona,The University of Manchester, Hult International Business School, BI Norwegian Business School, Eindhoven University of Technology (TU Eindhoven),Syracuse University - School ,University of Southern Denmark, gathered in new delhi for the promotion of their institutions.
I discussed the role of AI in providing interactive, socratic style of learning to students and was surprised to learn just how many of these schools are implementing AI in their programs.
Teachers especially in higher educational institutions have now more time to dedicate to fundamental research in their chosen fields and innovate and motivate students to explore new ideas instead of relying on stale teaching methods.
Among the many concerns shared by students was the tough job market. The market has never been easy. But additional challenges are being faced by them due to automation of their roles. Middle management is especially in a state of crisis. How do we address these issues?
We all agreed that continued innovation is the only way to ensure success. Instead of competing in highly contested market spaces the leaders of tomorrow need to figure out a way to generate new opportunities and build new demand creating 'blue oceans' ,as W chan Kim and Renee Mauborgne called them, that can sustain them and their communities.
In his essay the American scholar Ralph Waldo Emerson boldly proclaimed that "Meek young men grow up in libraries, believing it their duty to accept the views, which Cicero, which Locke, which Bacon, have given, forgetful that Cicero, Locke, and Bacon were only young men in libraries, when they wrote these books."
Today more than ever before we need breakthroughs in science,economics,business and arts. We need revolutionary new ideas that can spark creativity ,industry and reaffirm the greatness of human ingenuity and inspiration in the age of artificial intelligence.
New silicon valleys are waiting to be started by those among you. Use your time in school to learn how to think independently and critically. Use this time to develop self trust and prepare yourselves to do great things in the future.
